Seven Stars show us the way to happiness, in Newcastle
4th of October 2016, after a very long journey from Thessaloniki to Newcastle.
But for the next 4 days, the “Seven Stars” and the group of “PrintAble”, hosted us in an atmospheric church, where performing and dancing set away any barrier of weariness and lack of inspiration.
And we are still here to follow your way!
Drawing with inspiration
Self-evaluation workshop in ANTIGONE: Mandala with values of my life
Instructions:
- Write the 10 most important values in your opinion (ex freedom, love, recognition)
- Put them in hierarchical order first the most important and then the less etc.
- Next to each value put a color that you think fits or it’s expresses you..
- Choose a mandala design (from what it was given).
Create a draft of your own mandala putting in the center the colors of the most important values, outside the next values-colors etc.
The work can be reproduced with materials and techniques of your choice and the size you want.
This technique has many ramifications
It’s associated with self-awareness, connects painting with our core values. Moreover, it captures in a single, unique and significant form for each one of us, all of our values, despite our own potential values.
The “theatre for mental well-being” group – run by Teatro Nucleo
The “theatre for mental well-being” group – run by Teatro Nucleo – is practicing the “bag s exercise”, as learned from the coordinating organization of the A.R.T.S. project and exercised during the first LTT session in Skelleftea.
This is an heterogeneous self-help group working with the external monitoring and training provided by our organization. The group meets every Wednesday in our Theatre Julio Cortazar in Pontelagoscuro (Ferrara). Most of the partecipants are professionals – teachers, architects, educators, technicians in agriculture. Some of them have the opportunity to re-apply what learned in this group in their work environment, some are able to lead other self-help mental well-being groups all around our region.
Thoughts after the holidays…evaluating the running activities of the project
Coming back from our summer holidays, we are met for our regular art workshops, Wednesdays at 15.00.
People with disabilities and mental issues carry the experience and knowledge that can be used as a primary source for bottom-up initiatives to promote social inclusion through art. ARTS feels that the flow of daily experiences of people with disabilities are indispensable to the sustainability of the envisaged art workshops. As such, marginalised people are regarded among responsible contributors for development of workshop curricula along with adult trainers, artists, and for selecting the themes of weekly art classes.
The methodological approach of the project ARTS can increase social participation of people with disabilities and facilitate access to cultural, recreational activities and activities for developing new professional skills and knowledge. The democratic pedagogical approach can foster participants’ self-confidence and make them willing to express themselves and setting up a space where their opinions are being taken into consideration. This can have a positive impact on their families and daily lives. The cooperative organisation of art labs, the workshops and the the transnational learning activities can build concrete skills expendable in the job market.

During the first day of presentation , the Teatro Nucleo has welcomed the European participants presenting the space where they would work the following days, the Teatro Julio Cortazar, and history, specifically the activities that brought the theater practice in psychiatric hospitals, prisons, therapeutic communities, neighborhoods and disadvantaged communities at the service of people in crisis, until the theater training at the TEATRO NUCLEO School for Theatre in Therapy.
The following days of workshops were prepared by providing a heating early on and then focus on different aspects of theater research: the choral rhythm; the use of rhythm as an expression; voice breathing, emission, intention, color; the song; the guided improvisation; the construction of an individual and collective sequence; the tableauxbvivants; creative writing and dramatic composition.
The last day of work, the participants together with the teachers have built a montage of materials tested during the workshop.
Alongside the practical work, the group has had the opportunity to experience concrete role of observer /feed-back giver, participating as a spectator to all the performances offered by the Totem Arts Festival.
Collective Forest
To celebrate the International Museum Day, the Museum of Lugo organised an activity consisting in the preparation of the work of ephemeral art “Collective Forest” under the direction of artist Alberto Pena Rey.
It was open to anyone who wanted to participate. The “Xeira” workshop went with Cogami Day Care Centre to provide colour and creativity to the mural. This is a small summary.
